Alumni Relations Associate -- Office of Institutional Advancement

Founded in 1774, Newark Academy has a rich history as an independent, coeducational school, for grades 6-12, located on a beautiful 68-acre campus in Livingston, NJ. In collaboration with the Director of Alumni Relations, the Alumni Relations Associate will support the engagement efforts of the Newark Academy Office of Institutional Advancement by assisting with the development and management of programs to increase the depth and diversity of alumni engagement in support of Newark Academy’s values, mission and strategic plan. 

Reports to: Director of Alumni Relations 


  • Support the Director of Alumni Relations in developing, implementing and evaluating alumni engagement activities, locally and nationally. 

  • Coordinate the development, implementation and execution of new and existing young alumni events, programs and services designed to foster a lifelong connection between alumni and Newark Academy.

  • Plan and execute an array of communication materials including social media posts, email invitations and solicitations, and printed items designed to educate alumni regarding opportunities for engagement and to drive attendance and increased donations by alumni. 

  • Partner with the Assistant Director of Annual Alumni Giving to support senior class giving, reunion and young alumni giving efforts including identification, cultivation, and stewardship of young alumni donors.

  • Manage information using the alumni database (Raiser’s Edge) and handle data entry including event planning and alumni news into Raiser’s Edge.

  • Assist in the creation of online event registration forms and maintenance of the alumni web pages, including informational pages for events and tracking of event registrations.  

  • Provide administrative support to Director of Alumni Relations as needed.


  • 1-3 years of experience working for an independent school, college or university. Relevant experience in related fields will be considered. 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and social media required. Raiser’s Edge experience preferred or other applicable software preferred.

  • Demonstrably strong writing, planning and organizational skills. 

  • Experience working with design programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Canva, etc. preferred. 

  • Experience with social media platforms – creating dynamic posts for social media for alumni engagement.

  • High degree of flexibility and initiative as well as the ability to work independently and thrive in a team environment to achieve institutional and individual goals.

  • Goal-oriented and outcomes focused.

  • High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information.

  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed. 

  • Bachelor's degree. 

Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience.
