Innovative Admissions Approaches Inspired by the COVID-19 Crisis

During this session we will discuss the challenges this current crisis has presented to higher education and a few adaptations to help maintain equity in the process in what is sure to be an unusual admission season this coming year. Please join Claudia Marroquin, Director of Admissions at Bowdoin College to learn how innovative practices at the higher ed level can inspire change in your admission process.

Presenter:

Claudia Marroquin is the Director of Admissions at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. She has overseen the expansion of the college’s multicultural recruitment efforts through fly-in programs for underrepresented students and has increased Bowdoin’s partnerships with community based organizations across the country, such as College Horizons and QuestBridge. As Director of Admissions, Claudia oversees the operations of the admissions office including hiring and supervision of staff, manages the operating budget, works on recruitment and enrollment strategy, and has served on a variety of campus-wide committees and working groups. She is a member of IACAC, NACAC, and NECBAC, where she served as chair of the finance committee from 2015-2017. In Maine, she has participated in leadership development through the Institute for Civic Leadership and served as a board member for Hardy Girls, Healthy women. Claudia is a graduate of Bowdoin College and is currently pursuing her master’s in higher education from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education.

Cancellation Policy:

For Round Tables: Registration fees will only be refunded if NJAIS is notified of your cancellation one week prior to the program.

For Workshops, Conferences and Retreats: Registration fees will only be refunded if NJAIS is notified of your cancellation two weeks prior to the program.

In the event of inclement weather, programs may be delayed or postponed.
