Accreditation of a school increases the level of public confidence in and credibility of that school and its mission, and, by extension, of NJAIS as a whole. Accreditation, therefore, serves as a conduit for public trust in the quality of an accredited independent school in our association.

Accreditation signifies that a school meets curricular rigor, teaching practices, facilities, and student support services, assuring stakeholders that the education provided aligns with the school's mission. 

Continuous Improvement

The accreditation process encourages self-reflection and analysis, allowing schools to identify areas for improvement and actively work towards enhancing their programs to better fulfill their mission. 

Recognition

Holding accreditation enhances a school's reputation, helping it to attract students, staff, and potential funding sources. 

Transferability of Credits

For students, accreditation increases the likelihood that their credits will be accepted at other K-12 institutions, should they choose to transfer, supporting their educational goals.

Employers often value degrees from accredited institutions, which can improve job prospects for graduates and align with the school's mission to prepare students for successful careers.

By undergoing the accreditation process, a school is held accountable to the public for maintaining high standards that support it in the delivery of its mission. 

Accreditation by NJAIS serves to safeguard the independence of our independent school members, providing a trusted quality assurance mechanism sought by the public. The absence of an effective and professional system of quality assurance could lead to increased oversight on the part of state and/or federal governmental agencies, resulting in a compliance process that would likely be more cumbersome and less responsive to the unique character of independent schools.
