The French American Academy is looking for the Director of its New Milford Campus.

The Campus Director serves as the educational leader, supervising and managing the student body, guiding and nourishing the team, and building a strong and positive community of parents.

New Milford campus welcomes 110 students from PK2 through 5th grade.


The French American Academy offers a unique bilingual French - American curriculum and its director must be fluent in French.

The Campus Director reports to the Head of School and participates in all board meetings. Responsibilities of the director include:


1/ Team management

Conducts useful and fruitful weekly meetings
Prepares an agenda and record minutes of the meetings
Evaluates the teachers and staff regularly, conduct walk-through and document each visit. Those reports are accessible to the Head of School.
Proposes and organize professional development in-house and outside
Keeps track of all professional development certificates
Prepares and keep teachers and staff's files up-to-date
Prepares head teachers contracts' renewal to be approved and signed by Head of School
Records personal and vacation days
Hires part-time and enrichment staff (gathers information, records reason of choice, recommendations letters, and all new employee necessary documentations)
Orients and guides all new team member

2/ Policies & regulations

Applies licensing office requirements
Makes sure that all safety rules and procedures are followed
Keeps on-going relationship with appropriate inspector, fire chief and chief of police
Applies all immunization requirements

3/ Students management

Prepares and keep all student's files up-to-date in renweb and in paper if necessary
Documents all incidents and accidents (forms, emails, calls) in a log accessible by Head of School
Maintain all necessary logs up-to-date (fire, illness, medication, etc.)
Prepares IR&S meetings regularly, takes notes and follows up on the action plan. Binder is accessible to Head of School
Monitors children with special needs or support (allergies, asthma, therapies, etc.)
Establishes contact with state and local authorities to receive supplemental aid
Makes sure all parent's authorizations are signed and stored
Responds to disciplinarian issues and organizes Bullying Prevention
Evaluates prospective students and meets the parents

4/ Finance and Budget - Reports to Head of School or Controller

Establishes a yearly budget for Head of School and Board's approval
Monitors the budget on a weekly basis in partnership with the controller
Monitors the cash flow on a weekly basis in partnership with the controller
Provides three estimates for expenses above $1000 to Head of School for approval
Select and proposes new vendors for Head of School's approval (W9 and insurance certificate available)  

5/ Community life

Provides regular information to the parents (newsletter, monthly emails, parent portal announcements and calendar, etc.)
Organizes Back to School night and other events to inform about curriculum and school policies in conjunction with Head of School
Participates in local events or school fair
Works with PTO representatives and attends PTO meetings

6/ Facilities and Emergency Management

Decides on snow or emergency days
Monitors the building maintenance's needs and organizes repairs
Negotiates contracts for cleaning, copier, lunches, snacks, supplies, etc. in partnership with the controller
